C4WS HOMELESS PROJECT

C4WS is a network of 13 London churches who provide support to 300 homeless people a year, providing free shelter, food and welfare services - particularly during te coldest months of the year. Volunteers will be responsible as a group for preparing dinner for up to 16 guests, setting up the dining space and washing up.

SAFER SLEEP WEEK

Safer Sleep Week is The Lullaby Trust’s national awareness campaign targeting anyone looking after a young baby. Greater awareness of safer sleep can lead to a decrease in infant deaths from SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome). Bucket collectors are required at Waterloo station for 2-hour sessions.

ETNA COMMUNITY CENTRE

ETNA is a vibrant and welcoming community centre in the heart of Twickenham. The community centre hosts 50 different community groups, providing locals with a safe and convenient location where they can pursue a variety of interests. Volunteers will be involved in gardening and spring cleaning.

VERTICAL RUSH (SHELTER)

1000 runners will be racing up London’s iconic Tower 42 to raise money and awareness for Shelter, a non-profit organisation that helps people struggling with bad housing or homelessness in the UK through advice, support, and legal services. Volunteers will be helping run the event on the day in a variety of roles including floor marshals, stewards, participant guides, handling baggage, and distributing goody bags.

City harvest

While thousands of Londoners go hungry each day, safe, healthy and usable food is being disposed of as waste. City Harvest collects this nutritious surplus food from all segments of the food industry including restaurants, grocers, manufacturers, wholesalers, hotels and caterers and provides it safely to the hungry. As a warehouse assistant you will contribute through unloading food deliveries, sorting food, checking food, and doing other general warehouse jobs to help in the day-to-day running of City Harvest.

City Harvest collects this nutritious surplus food from all segments of the food industry including restaurants, grocers, manufacturers, wholesalers, hotels and caterers and provides it safely to the hungry.
Help this sustainable charity collect funds to feed the hungry by collecting donations at their stall in International Food and Drink Expo, hand out guides/leaflets, thank you stickers and talking to visitors about the cause.

What volunteers will need:
o Basic understanding of the work of City Harvest
o Great inter-personal skills and charisma
o Possession of a mobile phone and charger to link to Tap and Pay machine

L'Arche Garden Project

L’Arche celebrates people with learning disabilities and builds communities of support around them. They go beyond basic needs to attend to people’s emotional and spiritual lives with the aim of building relationships, providing a sense of belonging, supporting each member to reflect on what they have learnt and to share that reflection.  Join the organization for a Craft or Garden Workshop.

West london action

West London Action for Children offers a range of counselling and therapy services for children and families in need who are based in the London boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea. We support families under stress to develop their confidence and skills to cope with the ordinary and extraordinary challenges of family life. Help them organize an explorer workshop in Natural History Museum. Volunteers will be responsible for accompanying the families to the Museum, engaging with families, encouraging kids to observe and packing a small lunch for participants (Expenses will be reimbursed by the Charity.)

hands on london

Hands On London is the local affiliate of Hands On Network (HON), which connects Londoners who want to get involved with community groups, charities and NGOs.
Volunteers will be working as part of a project to create anew nature play area. The team will be helping to clear encroaching vegetation, de-compressing soil for spring planting and the creation of a log edged pathway. The day will be fully supported by the Ecology Centre and Hands On London Team.
